Child Travel Consent in Poland

When arranging child travel consent for a trip from Poland, first check what the destination and carrier require. The document records a parent’s permission for the journey. ONE PLUS in Wrocław helps prepare the wording, arrange a Polish notary appointment and organise a translation where needed.
Start with the itinerary: where your child is going, for how long and with whom. Then check the consent and travel document requirements. Your child will also need a valid travel document and any required entry documents. The carrier may have its own rules.
Consent and Power of Attorney
Travel consent gives permission for a trip. A power of attorney allows a representative to carry out specific actions. Permission to accompany a child does not automatically cover a change of residence or every medical decision. Any additional authority needs to be discussed separately.
The Polish term is zgoda na wyjazd dziecka za granicę. When arranging child travel consent, tell us where your child is going and who will accompany them.
When Both Parents Must Agree
In Poland, taking a child abroad is a significant decision that parents with the relevant decision-making rights must agree on. If they cannot agree, the court decides. Divorce or lack of contact alone does not remove the other parent’s rights: check what the court order actually says.
Whether consent needs notarisation depends on the country’s rules and who will check the document. There is no single requirement for every trip from Poland. Check the destination, transit countries and carrier. Written consent helps show that the parents agreed to the trip.
Who Can Accompany Your Child
- With one parent: establish whether the other parent’s consent is needed and prepare evidence of the family relationship.
- With a grandparent, coach or family friend: identify the accompanying adult, their travel document and the parents’ contact details; check how consent must be documented.
- Without an adult: confirm the carrier’s age limits and unaccompanied-minor service before booking.
- For a permanent move: assess parental responsibility and residence separately; permission for a holiday does not replace permission to relocate.
Polish border officers may check whether the parents or legal guardians know about the journey. Give the accompanying adult their contact details and documents showing the family relationship and purpose of the trip.
Children Travelling from Ukraine
If you are in Poland, you can prepare consent here for your child’s journey from Ukraine. First check the rules for leaving Ukraine and entering Poland. Ukrainian citizens are covered by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 57, including special rules during martial law. Notarised consent from both parents is therefore not required in every situation.
Provide your child’s age and nationality and say who will accompany them. If a Polish notarial document will be used in Ukraine, confirm the language, translation and delivery of the original in advance. Check the return journey’s requirements separately.

Documents for Child Travel Consent
- Identity documents for the parents signing the consent.
- The child’s birth certificate and details of their valid travel document.
- The accompanying adult’s full name, date of birth, document number and contact details.
- Destination and transit countries, departure and return dates, and purpose of travel.
- Relevant court orders concerning parental responsibility and other evidence of family circumstances.
- Any requirements already supplied by the receiving authority or carrier.
Check names and document numbers against the originals. If you and your child have different surnames, bring evidence of your relationship or the name change.
Arranging Consent in Wrocław
- Describe the trip. Give the itinerary, dates, nationality and accompanying adult’s details.
- Agree the wording. Check personal details, validity and whether the document covers repeated trips.
- Confirm the notarial procedure. Do not sign in advance if the notary needs to witness or certify the signature.
- Arrange translation where needed. If the signer does not understand the document’s language, discuss interpreter arrangements with the notary.
- Collect the original and check the complete travel pack. Review the passport, entry documents and carrier’s rules separately.
ONE PLUS helps prepare the wording and arrange notarial services in Wrocław. The notarial act is performed by a notary. A consulate may also be an option. Compare appointment dates, the document’s language and the recipient’s requirements.
When Translation or Apostille Is Needed
Ask the recipient which language and type of translation they accept. A sworn translation of the documents may be required for use abroad; bilingual wording does not always replace it.
An apostille is not automatically required: a treaty between Poland and Ukraine exempts official documents within its scope from legalisation. For another country, check its requirements. Where authentication is necessary, ONE PLUS can provide assistance with an apostille.
Checks Before Your Child Travels
- Names and spelling. Check every name against the child’s, parents’ and accompanying adult’s passports.
- The accompanying adult. If someone else will accompany your child, check whether the prepared document still covers the trip.
- Dates and itinerary. Make sure the consent matches the journey it was prepared for.
- Original or copy. Confirm which format is accepted. Do not rely solely on a photograph on your phone.
- Entry documents. Parental consent does not replace a travel document, visa or other required permission to enter.
If you already have a consent template, share it before booking the notary appointment. Check the wording and personal details first, then confirm signing, translation and delivery of the original.
Answers to Common Questions
Consent While Your Child Is Abroad
Your child being in another country does not, by itself, prevent you from preparing consent. Normally a parent signs it. Ask the notary in advance who needs to attend and what information about your child is required.
How Long Is Consent Valid?
There is no single validity period for every country. Give the dates and purpose of the trip. For repeated journeys, check whether consent covering several trips will be accepted.
If the Other Parent Objects
First establish each parent’s rights. If consent is required and you cannot agree, you may need a court decision. An online template cannot resolve a dispute between parents.
How Much Does Consent Cost?
The price depends on document preparation, notarisation, translation and any extra formalities. Before booking, ask for a quotation and confirm when the documents will be ready.
