What the 800+ programme is
Poland’s 800+ benefit (świadczenie wychowawcze) pays 800 PLN per month for each child under 18. From 1 January 2024 the amount rose from 500 to 800 PLN. Family income is usually not used as a cut-off. That does not mean the office ignores residence status, identity data or attachments.
Always cross-check official updates on gov.pl/web/rodzina and the Empatia portal. Channels and document details can be refined over time, so a case-specific check before filing is safer than copying a forum checklist.

Who can usually apply
In practice applications come from:
- Polish citizens raising children under 18;
- foreigners living in Poland who meet programme conditions and hold a residence basis that allows work;
- Ukrainian nationals with temporary protection / PESEL UKR after 24 February 2022, if programme conditions are met.
These are orientation points, not promises. The deciding authority issues the award. We help prepare a complete file and reduce rejection risk caused by form and paperwork.
Income is not the whole story
“No income threshold” is not the same as “no review”. Residence, PESEL identifiers, family situation and bank details still matter.
Documents most families need
A typical set includes:
- applicant identity document;
- child’s birth certificate;
- PESEL for applicant and child;
- civil-status / custody information;
- Polish bank account details.
Documents issued outside Poland almost always need a sworn Polish translation. In some cases apostille or another legalisation form is also required. Incomplete translations and mismatched spellings are classic reasons for follow-up requests.
Before you start, it often helps to close PESEL gaps and, if needed, residence registration (zameldowanie). If you are also planning a temporary residence card (TRC), treat that as a separate procedure.
Payment period and bank account
Awards usually cover 1 June of the current year to 31 May of the next year. Funds go to the Polish account stated in the application. A closed account, mistyped IBAN or unsuitable account can block payment even after a positive decision.
Families rarely fail because they misunderstand “800 PLN”. They fail on period selection, missing children in the form, outdated data after a name change, or slow replies to document requests.
How to apply in 2026
The most common path is electronic filing through Empatia with a trusted profile or another accepted identity method. Other channels may exist if current rules allow them. Digital filing is convenient, but unforgiving of blank fields and unreadable scans.
Before submit, check:
- every eligible child is listed correctly;
- names and dates match across files;
- scans are readable;
- the account number is exact;
- translations are attached where required.

For UKR-status clients we also check whether different support programmes are being confused and whether status documents are current. Extended special stay rules do not remove the need for correct child documents and a Polish account.
Cases where DIY filing gets harder
Child born abroad
Translation is usually mandatory; legalisation requirements depend on the issuing country.
Separated parents or complex custody
The file must show why this applicant can claim for this child.
Earlier request or refusal
You need to fix the root cause, not resubmit the same weak pack.
No Polish bank account yet
Open a suitable account before expecting a transfer. A decision without a working account does not pay rent.
After you submit the application
Filing through Empatia is the start of waiting, not the finish line. Watch messages, reply deadlines and account details. If the office asks for a clearer scan, a sworn translation or a child PESEL correction, send a complete reply in one pack instead of drip-feeding files.
Typical follow-up requests

800+ next to other procedures
Foreign families rarely run only one track. PESEL, address registration, a residence permit case or other benefits may run in parallel. Names, birth dates and address data must match across every file.
PESEL and address data
Without a child PESEL, filing usually stalls. If correspondence still goes to outdated addresses, sort residence registration as well. That does not replace 800+ conditions, but it reduces lost letters and mismatched identifiers.
Residence permit as a separate track
A temporary residence card (TRC) is a different procedure with different evidence. Do not mix packs: what goes into Empatia is not automatically right for a residence file, and the reverse is also true. Align the order of documents early so offices do not see conflicting versions of the same facts.
