Act on Certain Medical Professions
As of March 26, 2024, the Act on Certain Medical Professions has come into force in Poland. It introduces a mandatory registration requirement for certain medical professions in the Central Register. Working without being registered is considered illegal.
Why is registration required?
The purpose of the register is to increase transparency and ensure control over the qualifications and activities of medical workers. The register is accessible to both employers and patients via the IT system managed by the Centre for e-Health (Centrum e-Zdrowia). The Minister of Health is the data controller.

Who must register and by when?
- New professionals — Individuals who are just completing their qualifications must follow the new rules. Educational institutions are responsible for informing them about the requirements.
- Current professionals — Must submit a registration request no later than September 26, 2024 (within six months of the law coming into force).
Registration procedure
The application must be submitted by the medical worker directly. The decision is issued by the Voivode (provincial governor) of the applicant’s place of residence.

Registration fee
- The registration fee is PLN 100.
- Payment must be made to the account of the relevant Voivodeship Office.
- Proof of payment must be attached to the application.
- Updates to your data or removal from the register are free of charge.
Requirements for eligibility
To be included in the register, you must meet the following conditions:
- Full legal capacity;
- No criminal record for intentional crimes prosecuted publicly or intentional fiscal crimes;
- Enjoyment of full public rights;
- Polish language proficiency (confirmed with a declaration): “Oświadczam, że władam językiem polskim w mowie i piśmie w zakresie niezbędnym do wykonywania zawodu medycznego.”
- Appropriate educational qualifications and diplomas.
