When a long wait stops looking like a normal queue
If you already filed for Polish citizenship and months pass without clear progress, that is not always “just how the office works”. In 2026, voivodeship offices and competent units still operate under heavy pressure. There is a difference, though, between a normal backlog and a case that has effectively frozen. When there are no document requests, no replies and no next stage, check the case timeline rather than only the feeling of waiting.
ONE PLUS has operated officially since 2018. More than 12 years of migration practice show the same pattern: citizenship acceleration is not informal influence and not a guaranteed passport on a chosen date. It is work with an already open administrative proceeding: status review, replies to office requests, a formal acceleration request and, where justified, a complaint to the administrative court (WSA).
We do not promise a positive decision and we do not sell an “average waiting time” as a guarantee. The state authority makes the final decision. Our role is to help you understand what is blocking the case and use only lawful tools.
How citizenship acceleration differs from residence-card acceleration
Different proceedings, similar applicant mistakes
Some tools overlap with temporary residence (TRC) acceleration: correspondence control, a formal acceleration request, an inactivity complaint. The subject matter is different. Citizenship cases examine continuous residence history, language, income, security-related checks, civil-status records and the logic of the chosen legal path. If a permanent residence case is also pending, strategy is built separately for each proceeding.
What usually slows citizenship cases specifically
In practice delays come from more than office queues:
- incomplete or contradictory civil-status records and translations;
- gaps in the legal residence history;
- outdated proof of income, housing or PESEL;
- no reply to an office request within the deadline;
- address or family-status changes not reported to the authority;
- waiting for replies from other institutions;
- an internal pause with no visible case activity.
Official migration guidance should be checked on gov.pl/udsc. Chat-group advice often mixes different legal bases and goes out of date quickly.
When acceleration actually makes sense
Diagnosis first, tool second
Not every long wait requires court action. Sometimes it is enough to submit an updated document, correct a translation or reply to an inspector’s letter. In other cases, without a formal acceleration request or a WSA complaint the file sits for months with no movement.
ONE PLUS starts with chronology: filing date, acknowledgements of receipt, office requests, your replies, correspondence and current status. Only then do we choose a step. A rushed complaint without evidence more often wastes time and court fees than it moves the case.
Formal acceleration request
This is a procedural tool, not a “fast passport button”. The authority should respond and indicate the stage of proceedings. In some cases a well-prepared request restores contact with the inspector and starts the next stage.
Timing matters. If the office is formally waiting for documents from you or verifying data with other bodies, an early request may have little effect. That is why we assess the case stage before sending anything.
WSA complaint: procedural control, not a citizenship order
The province Administrative Court does not grant citizenship instead of the voivode and does not order a positive outcome. The court reviews whether the authority has been inactive or has conducted proceedings with undue delay. After a complaint is filed, the office usually must submit explanations. In practice the case often becomes more active, but that still guarantees neither a deadline nor a substantive result.
More on the court stage: court complaint.
Risks of the wrong strategy
Complaining too early
If you have not answered an office request or you delayed submitting documents yourself, an inactivity complaint may be premature. The court will see that the delay comes from waiting for the party’s actions.
Internet templates without a timeline
WSA needs dates, copies of letters, proof of dispatch and the content of requests. A generic online template without your case history rarely works. A weak complaint creates a false sense of control and postpones the right steps.
Activating a weak file
Any acceleration can “wake up” proceedings. If the file has weak points, the inspector will ask about those points first. That is why we review refusal risks before escalation, instead of only counting months of waiting.
Mixing citizenship paths
Different legal bases need different evidence logic. Acceleration strategy is built on top of an already chosen lawful path, not instead of it. A weak basis does not become strong only because a formal request was filed.
How ONE PLUS handles a citizenship case
What we review in consultation
- Filing date and method, plus acknowledgements of receipt.
- Content of office requests and your replies.
- Continuity and clarity of the residence history.
- Currency of passport, civil-status records, translations, income and address.
- Parallel proceedings: residence permit, PESEL, family procedures.
- Fit with the practice of the specific voivodeship and guidance on gov.pl/udsc.
Steps we may propose
- a request for information on case status;
- preparation of a reply to an office request;
- document updates before deadlines expire;
- a formal acceleration request tailored to your timeline;
- assessment of grounds for a WSA complaint;
- correspondence with the office under power of attorney where appropriate.
Tatiana Wyborna, ONE PLUS expert on foreign nationals’ legalisation, stresses that citizenship cases are often damaged not by a “slow office” but by no follow-up after filing. When correspondence is not monitored, weak points surface late and cost extra months.
Practice in 2026: honest expectations
Timelines depend on the voivodeship, document completeness, office workload and the complexity of checks. Wrocław and other large cities have different internal practice. The same step can produce different effects in different offices. That is why we do not sell “citizenship in N months” and do not use informal shortcuts.
ONE PLUS takes the client from analysis to a clear action plan. Office: Piłsudskiego 43, Wrocław. We support private clients across Poland. The company is officially registered (KRS 0000739695), works under contract and is responsible for the quality of case handling, not for the decision issued by the state.
If your citizenship case has been stuck without clear movement for a long time, start with diagnosis rather than a random template. ONE PLUS specialists will review the timeline, explain risks and propose a lawful next step.
