Which PIT Returns Do We Prepare?
PIT-37 is the most common annual tax return for employees and people working under an umowa o pracę, umowa zlecenia or umowa o dzieło, where tax advances were deducted by a Polish employer or payer.
PIT-36 may be required for certain types of foreign income, unregistered business activity or self-employment taxed under the general rules. PIT-36L is used by self-employed people who pay the 19% flat-rate income tax.
PIT-28 applies mainly to private rental income and business activity taxed under the Polish lump-sum system known as ryczałt. PIT-38 covers income from shares, securities, financial instruments and cryptocurrency. PIT-39 is used when reporting income from the sale of property.
We also prepare the relevant attachments, including PIT/O and PIT/ZG, and correct returns for both the current year and previous tax years.
If you have more than one type of income, you may need to file more than one return. For example, employment income may be reported on PIT-37, while income from shares or cryptocurrency is reported separately on PIT-38.
PIT-37 Preparation Based on PIT-11
PIT-11 is the tax document issued by your employer. It shows your annual income, tax advances, deductible employment costs and social security contributions.
Using your PIT-11, we prepare the PIT-37 return, check your personal details, combine information from several employers and calculate whether you are entitled to a refund or need to pay additional tax. We also check which tax reliefs may apply to your situation.
Once you approve the calculation, we file the return and provide you with the official confirmation of submission, known as UPO.
If you worked for more than one employer during the year, you should provide a PIT-11 from each employer. A standard PIT-37 return costs PLN 80 and is usually prepared within one business day after we receive all the required information.
Correcting a PIT Tax Return
ONE PLUS can review and correct a PIT return that has already been filed. A correction may be necessary if your employer issued an amended PIT-11, one source of income was omitted, the wrong form was used or a tax relief was calculated incorrectly.
Corrections are also common when foreign income, investment income, cryptocurrency transactions or deductible expenses were not included in the original return. We can correct both recent returns and returns from previous years.
Our specialist reviews the original filing, recalculates the tax and prepares the amended return. If additional tax is due, we explain how much needs to be paid and which individual tax account should be used.
The price of a standard PIT-37 correction starts at PLN 100.
PIT-38 for Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency income and expenses are reported in Poland on a PIT-38 return. The calculation should be based on reliable transaction records and documents confirming the costs of purchasing crypto assets.
We review information from cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets, including purchases, disposals, fees and documented expenses. Where necessary, transactions are converted into Polish złoty in accordance with the applicable tax rules.
We can also carry forward eligible cryptocurrency costs from previous years or correct a PIT-38 return that has already been filed.
The basic price for a cryptocurrency PIT-38 return starts at PLN 150. The final price depends on the number of exchanges, wallets and transactions involved, as well as the format and quality of the transaction history provided.
PIT-38 for Investments and Securities
We prepare PIT-38 returns for income from shares, securities, financial instruments, equity interests and transactions completed through Polish or foreign brokers.
The calculation may include the purchase and sale price of assets, brokerage fees, foreign dividends and tax withheld abroad. Transactions made in foreign currencies must also be converted into Polish złoty using the correct exchange rates.
If a foreign broker has not issued a Polish PIT-8C form, we can prepare the calculation using brokerage statements, transaction reports and other documents supplied by the client.
PIT-39 for the Sale of Property
If you have sold a flat, house, plot of land or a share in a property, you may need to file a PIT-39 return.
Before preparing the return, we check when and how the property was acquired, its purchase and sale price, notarial fees and documented costs relating to renovations or improvements. We also consider whether the property was inherited or received as a gift and whether the housing tax relief may apply.
Tax is calculated on the taxable gain rather than the total sale price. The final result depends on how long you owned the property, which costs can be documented and whether you qualify for an exemption.
We can prepare a new PIT-39 return or correct one that has already been submitted.
PIT-28 for Rental Income
Private rental income in Poland is generally reported on a PIT-28 return. To prepare the calculation, we need information about the rent received, the rental period, the number of properties and any tax payments made during the year.
If the property is jointly owned by spouses, we also check how the rental income should be reported between them. When the rented property is located outside Poland, the calculation may additionally depend on your tax residency and the relevant double taxation agreement.
Preparation of a standard PIT-28 return costs PLN 150.
Foreign Income in a Polish PIT Return
We assist clients who have received income from outside Poland. This may include a salary from a foreign employer, remote work, a foreign pension, rental income, business income, dividends or investment income.
Before preparing the return, we determine the client’s tax residency and check the relevant double taxation agreement. We then establish whether the foreign income must be declared in Poland and whether an additional PIT/ZG form is required.
Foreign income cases are assessed individually because the correct method of taxation depends on the country, the type of income and the client’s personal circumstances.
Tax Reliefs and Refunds
When preparing a PIT return, we check whether the client may qualify for available tax reliefs. These may include child tax relief, joint filing with a spouse, internet relief, IKZE deductions, rehabilitation relief, thermomodernisation relief and deductions for eligible donations.
The final calculation may result in a tax refund, no tax due or an additional payment. We explain the result before submitting the return.
ONE PLUS cannot guarantee that every client will receive a refund. The amount depends on the income earned, tax advances already paid, eligible expenses and the right to claim tax reliefs.
Documents Required for PIT Preparation
For a standard PIT-37 return, we usually need your PIT-11 forms, PESEL or NIP number, current address and information about any tax reliefs you wish to claim. We may also ask for your bank account details if you expect a tax refund.
For more complex returns, additional documents may be required. These may include foreign income statements, proof of tax paid abroad, brokerage reports, cryptocurrency transaction histories, rental documents, property purchase and sale agreements, invoices confirming eligible expenses or a copy of a previously filed return.
The exact list of documents depends on your sources of income and the type of PIT return required.
How to Order PIT Return Preparation
Contact ONE PLUS and briefly describe your sources of income. We will identify which return or returns you need and tell you which documents to provide.
You can send the documents online or bring them to our office in Wrocław. Our specialist will prepare the calculation and explain whether you are entitled to a refund or need to pay additional tax. Once you approve the result, we will file the return and provide the official UPO confirmation.
A standard PIT return is usually prepared within one business day after we receive the complete set of documents.
